Extreme Globe Riders
These guys are set to perform their first show in Scotland at the MCN Scottish Motorcycle Show. The display sees two riders whizzing round a specially-constructed metal globe measuring 6m in diameter at over 45mph. Two riders take part in the show, achieving a G-Force of over 5G, and members of the audience get to participate by standing in the middle of the globe during the finale! The company has recently built a cover for the globe to ensure the show goes on in all weathers.

Bag a race-replica Yamaha R1
Visitors to Yamaha’s stand (H205) at the show are being offered the chance to order a Grant Racing-prepared R1, built to commemorate Fife-based dealer Alan Duffus’ 30th anniversary as a Yamaha dealer.
The road-going version has been designed to mimic a model campaigned by Bob Grant in the 2007 Scottish Championships, and features the same paint-scheme as Grant’s race bike. Other features include a Termignoni carbon exhaust can, double-bubble tinted screen, diamond anodised rearsets, R&G crash bungs, and a single-seat cowl.
Only 10 of the anniversary specials are being made, and each bike will be numbered and personalised to the buyer’s specifications. “It’s basically the same as the race bike with a few changes for the road,” Vicki Grant told MCN. Bob Grant’s 2008 race bike is also due to be at the show, on the Knockhill Racing stand, number H45.

Moto Guzzi Stelvio
Italian manufacturer Moto Guzzi has opted to give its forthcoming Stelvio model its UK debut at the show. The bike uses Guzzi’s latest 8-valve, four-stroke 1151cc v-twin engine, and is designed to be comfortable and easy-to-ride. Other features include a high-tensile steel tubular frame, twin floating 320mm ‘wavey’ front brake discs, and spoked wheels.
Aberdeen-based dealer Shirlaws Motorcycles will have the Stelvio on its stand. A spokesman for the dealership told MCN the motorcycle is set to retail for £8670, and will form part of a stand featuring six of Moto Guzzi’s 2008 range, including the 1200 Sport, Griso 8-valve and 1100cc, and the Breva 1100.
Shirlaws is also displaying several Aprilia models on the stand, including the Shiver, Mana, RSV, Tuono, and RS125, which features a new range of colours for 2008.
